Chemico Limited is a 100% Ghanaian-owned company that commenced business in 1976 as a management buyout of the Agency and Distribution interest of ICI Ghana. ICI was set up in 1959 to formulate and distribute the remarkable cocoa insecticide Gammalin 20 (“PP Kumakate”).
Over its 45 years of existence, Chemico Limited has vigorously pursued a policy of adding value to its product range in formulating, blending, and repacking agrochemicals and fertilizers locally. It has invested millions of dollars in plants and equipment and offered employment to both highly skilled graduates and unskilled workers.
As part of the business expansion strategy, Chemico Limited acquired shares in Tema Chemicals Limited, an insecticide formulation Company, in a joint venture with Ghana Cocoa Board (COCOBOD).

Chemico Ltd is a leading importer and distributor of Crop Protection Products: herbicides, insecticides, fungicides, and fertilisers approved and tested by statutory bodies such as the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA), Plant Protection and Regulatory Services Division (PPRSD) of the Ministry of Food and Agriculture (MoFA) and the Cocoa Research Institute of Ghana (CRIG) under the Cocoa Marketing Board (COCOBOD). The first Company to install a fertiliser blending plant in Ghana for providing specific fertiliser grades for specific crops.
CHEMICO Ltd is now the only agrochemical formulator in Ghana, and formulates the following classes of products: Insecticides, Fungicides, Herbicides, Folia fertilisers

Chemico Ltd. maintains a standard agrochemical residues laboratory to ensure the quality of products that are produced from our blending and repackaging plants.
We have a mission to ensure that farmers use our products effectively and efficiently, through extension services and field training programmes for extension officers and farmers.
Chemico Ltd. has been a regular supporter of research programmes in agriculture and has been a constant contributor to programmes for the National Farmers' Day celebrations. It has also hosted visits by award winners to its factories.
In addition to giving regular employment, Chemico Ltd also gives seasonal employment to over 300 employees during peak production every year.
Chemico Ltd's plants and installations are run on the same lines as that of her principals and in accordance with established Safety, Health & Environment regulations and policies.
The Company's current Environmental Management Policy is constantly reviewed and technical staff are well trained to handle processes according to laid down regulations.
